What you would do
We’re a community café with a big heart for our older community. Our aim is to create a warm, comfortable atmosphere where everyone who walks through our door feels welcome, accepted and at home. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, friendly person to join our team as an Apprentice Café Assistant.
Day to day
What you’ll be doing:
- Greeting and serving customers with a smile
- Taking orders and serving food and drinks
- Making teas, coffees and other hot drinks
- Keeping the café clean and tidy, including wiping tables and mopping
- Helping the team keep things running smoothly
What you would study
Food and beverage team member (level 2)
You will be undertaking the Level 2 Food and Beverage Apprenticeship Standard and fully supported by HTP Apprenticeship College.
You will be developing Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours in the following areas:
- Deliver professional food and beverage service
- Build product knowledge
- Use effective sales and upselling techniques
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards
- Operate workplace systems and equipment
- Work effectively as part of a team.
As an apprentice, a portion of your contracted hours – typically around six per week – will be dedicated to off-the-job training, helping you
build new knowledge and skills related to your apprenticeship. This training will take place at the Cafe.
