What you would do

Join White Horse, a welcoming restaurant and bar serving fresh, locally sourced food. As an Apprentice Commis Chef, you’ll learn food preparation, cooking techniques, food safety and kitchen operations while working alongside experienced chefs. A fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a career in hospitality.

Day to day

Duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Helping in the preparation of all dishes
  • Kitchen tasks: peeling, storing, cleaning, preparing
  • Learning how to present dishes
  • Making stocks, soups and sauces
  • Fridge management
  • Receiving and storing provisions
  • All cleaning tasks

What you would study

Commis chef (level 2)

  • The successful candidate will work towards achieving their Apprenticeship Standard in Commis Chef Level 2.
  • A dedicated work-based trainer will be assigned to the candidate to provide them with support and guidance throughout the course.
  • This is a work-based programme with college attendance required once a month. All learning will take place at the candidate's place of employment/College and within their contracted working hours.
