Teaching Assistant SEND Apprenticeship - Gilmour Primary School

Responsibilities:

• Implement planned learning activities and teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher
• Adapt learning activities in response to pupils’ needs to ensure effective learning outcomes
• Contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities, providing feedback on pupil progress and behaviour
• Support the monitoring, assessment, and recording of pupil progress and activities
• Provide feedback to pupils on their attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher
• Support learning by preparing and providing resources for lessons and activities as directed by the teacher
• Liaise with other staff and share relevant information about pupils when appropriate
• Understand and support pupils with special educational needs
• Assist in supporting volunteers and other learning support staff within the classroom

Experience and skills required include:

• High levels of literacy, numeracy and computer skills (will have GCSE grade C/4 and above (or equivalent) English and maths
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to maintain confidentiality
• The ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
• A positive attitude, demonstrating flexibility and good-humour

Possible full-time employment upon completion of the apprenticeship.
